Office Admin / Bookkeeper

Summary

 

The Financial Accountant reports directly to the CFO and works within the accounting department. Their role is to administer day to day accounting and financial duties for the company, will assist in the preparation of financial information including internal and external financial reports, completion of monthly accounting duties, as well as assistance on Accounting and Finance related projects and office duties. This position is a full-time position requiring 40 hours/week.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure compliance to Pacific Group accounting policies

  • Cash duties including bank deposits, deposit reconciliations, cash update report

  • Project reconciliation and invoicing to clients

  • Maintaining an up-to-date accounts receivable list

  • Maintain accounts payable listing

  • Generation of Accounts Payable cheque runs

  • Preparation and compilation of bi-weekly payroll

  • Input credit card expenses for all accounts

  • Preparation of monthly reconciliations including accrued expenses, prepaid accounts and bank reconciliations

  • Preparation of journal entries various working papers to support the preparation of internal reports

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly reporting packages

  • Maintain accurate job costing reports.

  • Perform technical accounting research and participate in the development of new accounting policy as required to ensure the company is in compliance with requirements set out by federal, provincial, and local financial requirements

  • Follow established company procedures

  • Provides financial support including budgeting and analyzing variations from budget.

  • Assist CFO with month end & year-end financial statements

  • Administration of travel & related expenses

 

Required Work Experience / Skills / Attributes
  • Full cycle accounting experience, preferably with a private corporation, preferred

  • Methodical attention to detail, with exceptional organization and time management capabilities

  • Full cycle accounting in QuickBooks experience is considered an asset

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and ensure senior managers are regularly communicated with in a timely manner on obstacles to proper billing of projects

  • Be a self-starter, able to ask relevant questions and meet deadlines

  • Have a positive attitude to help out in all areas of accounting

  • Be excited to work for a growing company

  • Be Organized and detail oriented

Education

The ideal candidate would have a minimum of a diploma or degree in accounting. Pursuing an accounting designation is considered an asset. Excellent computer skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint and InfoPath as well as QuickBooks are considered to be an asset
