Senior International Sales



Skyline Exhibits Alberta is looking for an experienced Senior International Sales professional who excels at new business development. This positions primary role within the organization is to pursue and develop relationships with new clients and help Skyline Exhibits Alberta grow both in market share and reputation within the trade show industry.  It will involve strategic planning and execution with respect to actively seeking and retaining new clientele. This position will also include opportunities to provide leadership and training to other employees.

The proper individual for this position should possess the appropriate skill set and experience to be able to function independently with little overview from management while remaining professional and accountable to targets and goals. A combination of a customer service skills and leadership or management ability is necessary to be successful in this role. The position is full time, requires evening and weekends on occasion and must be able to travel from time to time.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities


Client Sales & Account Management

  • Manage accounts of all sizes by representing the team externally with clients and internally by working with direct reports and supporting positions

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the clients’ position in the market, their product / service, points of difference and competitive landscape

  • Manage client input and feedback for all projects with detailed direction and timelines

  • Establish and build strong working relationships with business leaders at all levels

  • Manage day-to-day client communication and ongoing relationships as it relates to current, new and upcoming projects

  • As necessary, visit clients, attend trade shows and other industry events to capitalize on networking and relationship-building opportunities

  • Manage several shows simultaneously both locally and internationally depending on the client trade show touring schedule

  • Proactively remain connected to clients and the ever-changing market to access new search opportunities and ensure all viable clients are engaged on a regular and effective basis

  • Become an expert in Skyline’s product offerings to help clients to increase measured success at tradeshows / events

  • Working with design, service, and other project specific employees to ensure smooth delivery of service to all clients


Planning & Administration

  • Assist in plan implementation and follow-up with an evaluation and report on progress.

  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.


Leadership & Team Management

  • Manage, coach, and develop the internal team

  • Create and lead employee training to effectively manage accounts and client needs by introducing management models such as the Situational Leadership model and DISC profile

  • Provide leadership & vision to the organization by assisting senior management staff with the development of long range & annual plans.

  • Ensuring the overall level of customer service meets Skyline Exhibits Alberta standards and taking corrective actions when necessary

Required Work Experience / Skills / Attributes

  • 10+ years of experience with project management or account management, combined with international experience

  • Ability to effectively communicate with client leaders of all levels

  • Experience in working with large multinational companies

  • Proven track record of successful leadership for implemented international projects

  • Ability to work independently and manage personal and team member time, keeping deliverables and deadlines top of mind

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving aptitude

  • Strong writing, phone and presentation skills

  • Strong listening, negotiation and facilitation skills

  • Strong motivation, coaching and team-leadership skills

  • Ability to find individual approach to different psychological types of clients

  • Knowledge of the overseas markets (Eastern Europe, Russia and CIS in particular) is a plus

  • Multilingual is considered an asset (English, Russian, German, Spanish, etc.)

  • Methodical attention to detail, with exceptional organization and time management capabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to manage & supervise a staff team

  • Strong communication, mediation and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to cope with conflict, stress & crisis situations.

  • Ability to work well within a team environment

  • Trade Show industry experience is considered an asset

  • Microsoft Office, QuoteWerks experience is an asset


  • The ideal candidate would have a minimum of a Bachelors degree, but Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Certification in Situational Leadership (SLII) and Situational Team Leadership (STL) (Ken Blanchard), Optimal Motivation (Ken Blanchard), or DISC typology (TTISI, Thomas Int. or similar) are considered an asset.

  • Courses or training in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint and InfoPath as well as QuoteWerks, QuickBooks & Exhibit Force are considered to be an asset.
